Like all professional orders, the Chambre des notaires du Québec is subject to the provisions of the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information, the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector and the Professional Code in relation to access to information and protection of personal information.
The main effect of these provisions is to make the documents that the Chambre des notaires du Québec holds for the purpose of supervising the practice of the profession available to the public, to the extent provided by law. They also have the effect, again to the extent provided by law, of protecting the personal information held by the Order.

All written access to information requests will be answered with a written acknowledgment of receipt. After analysis, a written response will generally be sent within 20 days of receipt of the request. In certain circumstances, this period may be extended by 10 days, in which case you will be notified.
If you are not satisfied with a decision made after submitting a written request, you may, within 30 days of the decision, contact the Commission d’accès à l’information to request the proceeding for review. Only decisions given in response to written requests are subject to review proceedings.
