REMOTE NOTARIAL DEED: Since April 1st, notaries are allowed to sign a notarized document remotely. This is not compulsory and notaries are free to use this additional tool or not. Consult the steps and application procedures.
CHAMBRE DES NOTAIRES OFFICES: The Chamber's offices are open, but due to the circumstances related to the coronavirus some services are offered remotely. Additional delays apply for requests for searches in Registers of Testamentary Dispositions and Mandates, as well as for requests for a Certificate of Quality and Authenticity.

Submit an application for financial assistance

The Chambre des notaires offers donations and sponsorships to support the initiatives of communities, organizations and civil society stakeholders. These two types of financing are related to its mission: the protection of the public. While donations help us develop a living, accessible legal organization, sponsorships are part of our brand marketing initiatives.

For sponsorship applications, please see “SPONSORSHIPS” at the bottom of this page.

Please note that the analysis of all new applications for financial assistance has been resumed since September 1st.

The Chambre des notaires grants financial assistance on the basis of a clear policy. The funds granted are drawn from the Notarial Studies Fund (the “NSF”), which is governed by the Notaries Act (the “Act”).

See the NSF governance policy (available in French only)

Evaluation of applications

Applications for financial assistance are evaluated on criteria related to the nature, impact and feasibility of the project. They are accepted, in whole or in part, or rejected by either the Executive Director (applications for $25,000 or less) or the Financial assistance attribution committee (applications for over $25,000), after hearing the recommendations of the Support and Quality of the Profession Department.

Financial assistance is granted based on merit and the availability of funds.

Financing granted

The grants are announced to the public three weeks after the evaluation meeting.

The list of grants includes the attribution date, the amount granted, the name of the organization, a brief description of the funded activities and the main NSF purpose met.

Sponsorships are an integral part of the Chamber's marketing and promotional activities. The Chamber gives priority to its financial involvement in sectors related to its field of activity and that of its members. It considers events that allow it to highlight its positioning as a professional order and to increase the notoriety of notarial law.

Nevertheless, the Chamber had to proceed with budgetary restrictions for the current fiscal year given the current economic context. Consequently, no sponsorship request will be accepted until March 31, 2021.

However, we invite you to submit your application to the Notarial Studies Fund, via the form, if it meets the selection criteria.

Please contact commandite@cnq.org if you have any questions on this subject
