REMOTE NOTARIAL DEED: Since April 1st, notaries are allowed to sign a notarized document remotely. This is not compulsory and notaries are free to use this additional tool or not. Consult the steps and application procedures.
CHAMBRE DES NOTAIRES OFFICES: The Chamber's offices are open, but due to the circumstances related to the coronavirus some services are offered remotely. Where can a civil marriage ceremony take place?

A notary can perform a marriage in any location agreed upon with the intended spouses, provided that it is appropriate to the solemn nature of the ceremony. A marriage solemnized by a notary gives the intended spouses a much wider choice of location for their ceremony.

If the proposed location is not suitable, the officiant will refuse to assist the intended spouses. Discuss your choice with your notary.

If one of the intended spouses cannot travel because of a medically certified physical condition, the ceremony can take place wherever that intended spouse is located, if the officiant agrees.

Notaries can perform civil marriages every day between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m., including Sundays and statutory holidays, unless the marriage takes place in a courthouse. In this case, the schedule is from Monday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (excluding Sundays and statutory holidays).
