How do notaries set their fees?

Since the obligatory fee scale for notaries was abolished in 1991, fees have been regulated by the Code of ethics of notaries. The Code stipulates that the fees must be fair and reasonable, based on specific criteria including the time and effort devoted to the case, the complexity of the case and the notary's experience and expertise. Please contact your notary for more information on fees, taxes and the costs of fulfilling the mandate.
