CHAMBRE DES NOTAIRES OFFICES: The Chambre des notaires continues its activities remotely. The offices are closed to clients, but services continue to be offered.  Additional delays are to be expected for search requests to the Registers of Testamentary Dispositions and Mandates and requests for certificates of quality and authenticity.

Access to information

Since September 14, 2007, the Chambre des notaires du Québec has been obliged to uphold the provisions governing professional orders with regard to access to information and protection of personal information.

The main effect of these provisions is to make available to the public, to the extent required by the law, documents held by the Chambre des notaires du Québec for the purpose of supervising the practise of the profession. The provisions also protect personal information held by the Order, to the extent required by the law.

Requests for access to information
To file a request for access to a document or information that is not on the website, please file a written request identifying as clearly as possible the parameters of the document or the information sought to facilitate processing and analysis, addressed to:

Please note that it is important to include your complete contact information so the coordinator can contact you if needed and send you the answer and the other documents required.

Processing time
All written access to information requests will be answered with a written acknowledgement of receipt and, after analysis, a written response transmitted in general within twenty days of receipt of the request.

Review proceedings
If you are not satisfied with a decision made after submitting a written request, you may, within 30 days of the decision, contact the Commission d’accès à l’information to request review proceedings.
